What is Bloomsday?

This year, Saturday, June 16, 2012 will mark the 108th anniversary of the day that James Joyce’s epic novel, Ulysses, took place. The novel is set in and around Dublin, Ireland and follows a remarkable single day of several characters, mainly Leopold Bloom, Stephen Dedalus and Molly Bloom.  Fans of the novel celebrate Bloomsday each year by reading from the novel, re-enacting scenes, listening to live performances or traditional Irish music, or hoisting their favorite Irish drink to celebrate their favorite literary work.

Featured on WNYC Radio, the Village Voice, and the New York Times, BloomsdayNYC is dedicated to provide and maintaining a list of Bloomsday events in in the greater New York City metropolitan area.
